Australia and India strengthen bilateral defence cooperation and expand engagement between the two armies - The Australia Today
Why it matters
Australia-India bilateral defence expansion reinforces the democratic alliance network in the Indo-Pacific and diversifies Australia's partnership beyond the US and AUKUS. This strengthens Pillar 7 (Alliance) and supports strategic decoupling (Pillar 5) by building alternative coalition depth in the region against Chinese pressure.
Pillar tags and the significance note are AI-classified (Claude) and human-curated. The platform's own preparedness scores never move on a single story without a separate human approval.
